Sometimes I just go online (or look in magazines) and find photos that I can sketch out. The purpose is to internalize a little of what you're copying onto paper. That's how I learned to draw as a child. I would pick my favorite poses out of the comics I bought and I would draw my own characters in those poses. So over time I developed quite a catalogue in my mind (and muscle memory in my hand). But it's also necessary to do quiet, everyday poses as well. This sketch is an example of that.
