Yep, there was a Golden Age Black Cat, and the majority of her issues (published by Harvey Comics) are in the public domain. Marvel still owns the trademark to the name "Black Cat," though. She had a young boy sidekick(named "Kitten"), as many heroes in those days did.
I knew the costume she wore for her premiere appearance wasn't like what it is today, but I had no idea she had a sidekick.
